10,000 LIVE TULIPS BLOOM IN METROPOLIS AT METROTOWN
MARCH 7TH 2020
The second annual I Heart Tulips event, a floral installation in support of Variety – the Children’s Charity, takes place March 7th 2020.
On January 26th the Chilliwack Tulip Festival came together with a long list of partners, volunteers, family, and friends to create a massive installation of 10,000 tulips in the shape of a heart inside the Grand Court of Metropolis at Metrotown. The goal was to raise awareness, and funds for Variety – The Children's Charity of BC.One of the core values of the Chilliwack Tulip and Sunflower Festivals is to create a place that is inclusive to all. Among the highest of priorities for us is helping those with disabilities, and making our festivals more accessible to those with disabilities. This is one of the reasons we have chosen Variety – the Children's Charity to be our cause.Together we were able to reach thousands of people with that message and raise thousands of dollars to support that cause. We would not have been able to do that without the long list of sponsors, volunteers, partners, friends, and family who helped us make this a reality.Chilliwack Tulip Festival and Onos Greenhouses would like to express our deepest gratitude to all who were apart of this, and look forward to working with you all again in the future!Special thanks to: Variety – The Children's Charity of BCSerena PRTillyTulpHaakman Flowerbulbs B.V.Daily Hive Vancouver Blrrd Creativ Connect MediaMetropolis at MetrowtownChilliwack Sunflower FestivalOnos Family MembersThank you to the following media outlets and influencers for your considerations: Blrrd CreativMiss604Jen Chan Media Jacqueline ChuiThe Food GaysBritish Columbia MomPopulistVancouver Is AwesomeDistrict Local | VancouverCandy ComplexGlobal BCBurnaby NOWDaily HiveMy Van CityNarcity Canada CTV News | CTV VancouverVancoolverVanMagThe Georgia StraightBCLivingWil YuarataMark Leslie RubioLife of KieraCoco Miko#ihearttulips #varietybc #chilliwacktulipfestival

In the depths of the post-winter doldrums, the creators of the hugely popular Chilliwack Tulip Festival will bring beauty, colour, and a spirit of giving to the Lower Mainland — with the second annual I Heart Tulips event in support of Variety – the Children’s Charity.
Happening Saturday, March 7th, 2020, at Metropolis at Metrotown, I Heart Tulips will see an enormous, one-day-only installation of 10,000 live multi coloured tulips taking over the shopping mecca’s Grand Court. Sponsored by Onos Greenhouses Ltd., along with Tulips of the Valley (which runs the Chilliwack Tulip Festival and the Chilliwack Sunflower Festival), the installation will be arranged with multi-coloured hearts surrounded by white, forming an awe-inspiring floral tapestry.
All proceeds will go to Variety – the Children’s Charity, a favourite cause of Kate Onos-Gilbert, co-founder of Tulips of the Valley. Variety – the Children’s Charity has been providing direct help to B.C. children with special needs for more than 50 years.
I Heart Tulips will also include a tulip selfie stand, photo frames, and the opportunity to take pictures with Tilly, the tulip mascot. Other pre-cut tulips will also be available (by donation), and all tulips may be wrapped on site for easy transport. “Both Variety and tulips are close to my heart,” says Onos-Gilbert. “This event perfectly pairs both the charity and the flower in a one-day event for a very worthy cause. I hope people ‘heart’ it!”
